One of the most influential thinkers in history, Karl Marx is also one of the least read and least understood. Too often, idea are presented as "Marxist" that have little or no grounding in his thought and critiques of Marxism are offered that show no familiarity with Marx's actual work. This Seminar looks at key sections of Marx's shorter works to give an introduction to his ideas of class, history, labor theory of value, and the historical background that informed his thinking. Some key key works are also suggested for further reading as well as several possible ways to pursue a greater understanding of his work and influence on the world today.
